Hello, and welcome. This space is my attempt to untangle my internal machinations and share the music that inspires them.

To be honest, I’m not sure I know how to write a blog. The last time I tried something like this, I was 16 on Xanga—broody, naive, and quick to give up when the feedback didn’t pour in. But now, with my head constantly buzzing with ideas and frustrations, I want to try again. I need an outlet, but I also want to engage with others in a meaningful way.

Here’s the tension: balancing self-expression with authenticity and connection. The internet makes that hard, especially in an age dominated by algorithm-driven content and endless scrolling. Social media platforms promise connection but often leave us more alienated, feeding on our data and attention while delivering ads for things we don’t need.

I’ve been here before: always attempting to make social media work for me. Myspace in high school was a lifeline to punk rock allies, but I still felt isolated. Facebook in college seemed like a breakthrough—a hub for ideas, events, and socializing—until I realized the platform wasn’t serving me; I was serving it. Even Diaspora, with its promise of decentralized community, failed to stick because convenience and buzz won out.

I’m no luddite. I build technology for a living and believe it can empower us. But only if we wrest control from the giants exploiting it for profit. That’s why this blog exists. A means to host my own ideas, while exploring a more decentralized online world.

This is a work in progress, and I’m learning as I go. Thank you for being here. Let’s see where this takes us.

Welcome
